From October 2022 to December 2023, she worked in Dr. Charles Hong’s cardiovascular lab at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She focused on iPSC culture and cardiomyocyte differentiation, with her work involving plasmid transfection, immunocytochemistry, western blotting, and PCR. Her time in Dr. Hong’s lab helped her develop critical thinking and scientific communication skills while also shadowing Dr. Hong in clinical settings. Prior to that, from January to September 2022, she worked in Dr. Ruhul Abid’s lab at Brown University, where she conducted research on mitochondrial antioxidants and extracellular vesicles in cardiovascular disease.
